Document certification – guidelines
The following guidelines apply when you need notarial certification of any of these documents:
- Naturalisation certificate
- Certificate of no impediment to marriage
For all of them we can provide notarial certification, and where needed certified translation and/or FCDO apostille. The rules below explain how to send or bring the document and what to expect in terms of timing.
Why we need to see the original
As notaries we must verify that the document exists and is original before we can certify it. For this reason the original must be seen by us. You can do this in one of these ways: send it by post, have it delivered to our office, or bring it in person to
We will contact you once we have received it and will then proceed with the certification.
When you need an appointment
If you only need notarial certification and want it on the same day (we inspect the document, certify it and hand it back to you in one visit), you must book an appointment. Appointments in London can be made here: https://app.marranotary.co.uk/booking.
If you are sending or delivering the document and do not need same-day certification, you do not need to book: just send or deliver the original and we will contact you to confirm and proceed.
Processing times (for these documents)
- Notarial certification only: about 20 minutes.
- Certified translation (when required): about 1 working day.
- FCDO apostille: about 2–3 working days after certification.
